Sheet Cutting Line

Application Requirement

A sheet cutting line in a steel factory is used to cut sheet metal into a desired shape for a specific application.  The cutting process involves a shearing force being applied by two tools, one above and one below, to the sheet that causes the material to fail and separate at the designated cut location. Such machinery is extensively guarded and interlocked to ensure that operators and/or maintenance personnel can only enter the guarded area once all machinery is isolated and has come to rest. Certain access doors that permit instant access are fitted with standard safety switches whereas, the actual cutting machine requires a rundown time to ensure that the sheet metal being processes isn’t jeopardised and is therefore fitted with solenoid controlled safety switches to bring the machine to a controlled stop.
